I first became involved in this great breed in 1983, through attending dog shows and assisting my brother with his Stafford’s. In 1984 I acquired my very first black and white pied bitch, Nitemarch Miss Dapper, who did not really enjoy the show ring, but with strong determination Miss Dapper gained her Australian Champion status.
Not long after, my wife Jude and I quickly acquired the Highbourne prefix and embarked on making Aust Ch Nitemarch Miss Dapper our foundation bitch, which proved very successful.
From our first litter we kept a dazzling red and white pied bitch. Her name was Aust Ch Highbourne Bo Derek, who carved out an enviable show record, from the word go; under breed specialists.
Being a small and select kennel we only breed for ourselves when we need our next show dog, and our stud dogs only go to carefully selected bitches. We have campaigned/bred 14 Aust Champions and 3 Aust Grand Champions to date. Our firm belief is to breed standard sized, sound animals, and endeavour to turn them out in the best possible condition for competition.
Highbourne has the enviable show record of being the leading award winning kennel in Australia under UK and Australian Stafford Specialists. Judges that have thought so highly of our Stafford's over the years are Norman Berry, Annette Baxter, Mike Homan, Clare Lee, The Late Alf Title, Mick Clark, Bill Blacker, Colin Powell, Dean Cund, Jo Hartnett, Audrey Hubery, David Lowe, Jaci McLauchlan, Lesley McFayden, Ann Goddard, Norman Benham, Mary Coble, Barbara Ann Beaufoy, Rob Drummond, Jamie Mace, Les & Kay Aspin, Betty Smith, Brian Aubrey , Helen Reaney, Frans Coetzer, Nancie Booth, Pat Harkin, Elaine Norton, Griet Coetzer to date.

In conjunction with the North Eastern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Great Britain, I was selected to judge a Stafford/Bull Terrier Match Night on Tuesday 10th July 2007.
